A neighbour’s recommendation can go a long way. Finding a reliable and trusted service provider can be a monumental task and often a source of frustration. To make it easy, begin creating a list of service providers that people in the community have used and liked, such as plumbers, electricians, technology and accessibility supports. Routinely add to the list as new providers and organizations are “vetted” through personal experiences. This list can be shared electronically, posted on a bulletin board, or included in a welcome package for new residents. If you find there are a few popular service providers, try and reach out to see if you can secure a group discount if two or more people book together!
