Buddy Bench

Buddy benches encourage inclusion. A buddy bench is painted with a colourful motif and acts as an invitation to sit and start up a conversation. As a part of their “Hello, How Are You” Program the City of Edmonton placed “Buddy Benches” in public spaces to invite conversation between park goers, and help turn strangers into neighbours. Create a buddy bench of your own in the courtyard or outside area of your building. It could be as simple as putting up a sign or as robust as inviting a local artist to paint a creative design that invites people to sit and connect all year round.
