About this Idea

Create a weekly or monthly “coffee club” in one of the common areas of your building to help neighbours get to know one another in a casual setting. Have a designated coffee club meeting time to be sure neighbours can come to rely on it. To start, see if a few neighbours are willing to chip in $5 to pay for the supplies upfront, and then put out a jar with a suggested donation to recoup the cost from those that attend. One building in Oshawa asked for a quarter per cup.

If there are no dedicated common areas in your building, consider using another space such as the lobby or entryway. You could even partner with local cafes and meet up during their “slow” time to ensure there is enough space.

Tip: If you need to go virtual set up a zoom call and share the invite with your community. If you need help there are resources available to support your transition to virtual (add a link?).
