About this Idea

Sometimes the hardest part of connecting with neighbours is just starting the conversation. If you are at the beginning and just starting your aging in place initiative, or you are trying to inspire greater participation, commandeer a highly visible space in the lobby. Bring a table or desk and decorate it to capture everyone’s attention. Have a poster or printed pages describing your group and what you are hoping to accomplish. You may want to have the posters and pamphlets translated to languages you hear often or know are used by your neighbours.

Invite people to come down and join you by slipping notes under the doors of your neighbours to introduce yourself and your idea.

Tip: Set up a lemonade stand in the summer, everyone loves a lemonade and while they sip you can discuss your ideas for the community.
