About this Idea

Getting to medical appointments can be tricky as mobility becomes challenged and driving is no longer a possibility. Starting a program to help neighbours get to the doctors can be a lifesaver. If people are comfortable, start a list where volunteers can post their name and contact info, with information about when they are available. Encourage people to meet in the lobby or talk on the phone prior to the appointment to work out the details and make sure everyone is comfortable. It is good to discuss particulars such as location and route, how long the trip will take, any special mobility considerations, and who will pay for any parking fees.
