About this Idea

In our multicultural society, language is often a major barrier to meaningful connections. Setting up “translation partners” within your building can help to bridge this divide. For example, if you have a high prevalence of Mandarin speakers in your community, set up a language club that pairs Mandarin-only residents with bilingual speakers to help them participate in social activities or communicate with building management. You can also reach beyond the community and partner with local high school students to aid non-English speaking seniors with various tasks.
