As we age it becomes even more important to remain active and engaged. Daily or weekly exercise groups provide an opportunity for both physical and mental wellness and socializing. Survey your community to see what types of exercise they might enjoy or plan a few different types and see which ones are a hit. Some ideas include chair yoga, balance exercises, and walking clubs.

Walking clubs can gather for outdoor adventures in mild weather and shift to indoor mall walks during colder seasons.

Consider pooling your funds if an instructor needs to be hired. Rates can be kept low if they are shared amongst a few interested neighbours.

Tip: During COVID try finding a local organization to support a virtual exercise club to keep the seniors in your building active and engaged even at a distance.
